Baptisms in English
Sacraments of Baptism in 2023 will be celebrated on September 21 and November 9.
All these days are Sundays. The celebration begins at 3:00 PM sharp. We advise all family members and guests to arrive at our church on time; we will not be waiting for any latecomers.
The Sacrament of Infant Baptism will be celebrated at the request of at least one parent who is a REGISTERED PARISHIONER of St. Joseph Church. Simply attending St. Joseph Church services (in-person, or virtually) DOES NOT count as a Parish Registration. No Baptisms will be taken if requested by grandparents or other relatives. Requests from outside of St. Joseph's Community will be taken once permission is granted by the Pastor of either one of the parent's home parish.
Additionally, at least one of the parents MUST attend a Baptismal Prep Zoom Class or produce a certificate of attendance. You can choose any of the dates that the Class is offered PRIOR to the scheduled Baptism. They will be offered on Thursdays before Baptism Sundays: on September 21 and November 9 at 7:00 PM. We strongly suggest that godparents attend such a class as well, either at St. Joseph’s or elsewhere. These classes are offered on the Zoom platform. Paperwork
As practiced everywhere, we require a copy of the child's birth certificate. Please, bring the Application Form filled out along with the birth certificate to the Parish Office.

Godparents
Ideally, the newly baptized child should have two godparents: godmother and godfather. Their task is to help the parents in the process of RAISING THEIR CHILDREN IN FAITH. If for some reason the parents are unable to fulfill their obligation, the godparents become responsible for that task. As stated in the Canon Law (Canon 874), at least one godparent is required who is Catholic and fully initiated in the sacramental life of the Church (who is baptized and received first communion and confirmation). The other godparent can be a baptized Christian of other denominations; however, non-Christians are not allowed to become godparents due to the fact that they can't fulfill the obligation of raising a child in the Catholic faith.
We, at St. Joseph's, do not require a letter from a respectful pastor (as required elsewhere) who would certify a person's ability to become a godparent. In our view, it is a matter of conscience and personal responsibility to God, to the parents of the child, and to the child itself, that one accepts this important role of a godparent.
Donation
A donation to St. Joseph's church, prior to or after the baptism, is much appreciated. Please, insert your donation (cash or check) into a plain envelope, and write on it the name of the baptized child. The amount of donation is at your discretion.
Certificate
After the Baptism has taken place the record of the Sacrament will be entered in the Baptismal Register of St. Joseph Church. In the future, you will be asked to produce your child's Baptismal Certificate for First Communion and Confirmation purposes. You will be able to obtain it from our office. Also, after the Baptism a proper Certificate of Baptism will be mailed to you at the listed address.

Chrzty po polsku
Chrzty św. po polsku są udzielane we wspólnie uzgodnionym terminie, którym jest zwykle weekend, z wyłączeniem okresu Wielkiego Postu. Chrzest św. udzielany jest w ramach osobnego nabożeństwa, a nie w czasie Mszy św. Najczęstszą praktyką jest chrzest w niedzielę bezpośrednio po Mszy św. o godz. 10:45. Dokładną datę należy bezpośrednio umówić z proboszczem. Prosimy o podanie proponowanej daty w "Notes" na dole formularza elektronicznego.
Chrzty przyjmowane są jedynie od rodzin ZAREJESTROWANYCH w naszej Parafii. Samo uczestnictwo w nabożeństwach (osobiście lub wirtualnie) nie jest rejestracją. Do chrztu zgłasza ojciec lub matka; tylko takie zgłoszenia są przyjmowane. Nie przyjmujemy zgłoszeń od zatroskanych babci lub sąsiadów. Rodziny niezarajestrowane w naszej Parafii mogą ochrzcić dziecko w naszym kościele pod warunkiem przedstawienia zezwolenia na chrzest poza parafią wydanego przez ich proboszcza.
Formalności obejmują wypełnienie Formularza Zgłoszeniowego do Chrztu oraz dołączenia kopii Aktu Urodzenia.

Chrzestni
Osoby dostępujące godności Ojca lub Matki Chrzestnej są współodpowiedzialne za rozwój danego dziecka w wierze. Jest to wielka godność, ale także i odpowiedzialność!
W oparciu o kodeks Prawa Kanonicznego (Kanon 874), chrzestnym może zostać katolik bierzmowany, który przyjął już Sakrament Eucharystii oraz prowadzi życie zgodne z wiarą i odpowiadające funkcji jaką ma pełnić. Osoba ochrzczona należąca do niekatolickiej wspólnoty kościelnej, może być dopuszczona tylko razem z chrzestnym katolikiem, i to jedynie jako świadek chrztu.
W naszej Parafii nie wymagamy specjalnego zaświadczenia wystawianego przez proboszcza parafii do której należy chrzestny. W naszym rozumieniu godność chrzestnego pociąga za sobą odpowiedzialność na wielu poziomach: względem dziecka, rodziców, Boga i własnego sumienia. Żadne zaświadczenie nie jest w stanie tego zagwarantować, jedynie odpowiedzialne podejście do tego zadania.
Ofiara
Kwestię ofiary za udzielony chrzest zostawiamy rodzinom proszącym o chrzest; za wszelką ofiarę bardzo dziękujemy. Prosimy w tym wypadku posłużyć się kopertą, na której należy napisać imię dziecka otrzymującego chrzest. Ofiarę można złożyc w dowolnym czasie: przed lub po chrzcie.
Świadectwo Chrztu Świętego
Po odbytym chrzcie nasze Biuro Parafialne wyśle pamiątkowy certyfikat Chrztu św. na adres podany w Formularzu Zgłoszeniowym. Nie jest on tożsamy z Świadectwem Chrztu Swiętego jakie jest wymagane np. przed przyjęciem Sakramentu Bierzmowania lub Małżeństwa. W tym celu należy skontaktować się z naszym Biurem Parafialnym.
Rodzicom proszącym o udzielenie Sakramentu Chrztu Św. gratulujemy faktu urodzenia lub adoptowania potomstwa oraz z radością witamy we wspólnocie katolickiej kościoła św. Józefa!
